Three checks, one link, one record.
The hirer photographs their photo ID and takes a selfie. The document is checked as genuine and the face is matched to it, so the person collecting is the person who verified, not a mate with a borrowed licence doing the moving run.
Not a glance at a plastic card. The hirer generates a one-time code on the government’s own Share Driving Licence service, and one tap from the booking opens gov.uk with it ready to paste: status, categories, points, shown to you by the government and not by us. Timestamped photos at handover and again at return, on the same record as the signed agreement, and on a working van that means the load area and the interior as well as the panels. “That scrape was already there” stops being an argument in either direction. How condition capture works.
